How to make your home sparkle this Christmas
It doesn’t get more jolly than this.
Christmas is a special holiday and is celebrated right around the world. It’s one of the few holidays that we celebrate by decorating our homes, too.
When Christmas is near we want to use any kind of decorations that have at least a hint of Christmas symbols. Many of us go crazy and try to find as many decorations as possible to make the house very festive and welcoming. But, there are some others who only want to use some small and discreet decorations that can be easily removed after Christmas.
You don’t have to paint the walls in red and green, but you can use some simple decorations like the Christmas tree and Christmas curtains to enhance the holiday mood.
We’ve listed a few simple tricks to turn your house in a Christmas wonderland:
Hang up gorgeous Christmas curtains patterned with poinsettias, snowmen, holly or a bright red. Design some Christmas kitchen curtains with lace snowflakes or add an edge to the guest room with striped drapes featuring candy cane designs.
To make your curtains sparkle even more, add tinsel and fairy lights to the top and sides. Discover our huge range of curtain options here.
Pillar candles create a sense of ambience, even when they’re not lit. Add varying heights on the table, mantlepiece or window ledges. Use as many or as few as you want. We use white to simplify the colour scheme, but you can use red, green, or any other colour candle to match your decor.
You will be amazed at how different a room can look when you rearrange your furniture. For the holidays, arrange your furniture to allow for conversations and create a place for family to gather around the Christmas tree.
Add an elegant Christmas flair with a new upholstered arm chair or lounge. Our favourite is thick white fabric with gold stripe, or a bright vibrant red to match the Christmas tree decorations. Have a look at our range of upholstery options here.
Embellish the coffee table
For an easy Christmas coffee table look, we like to place a bowl or board on the table and arrange some pinecones with some dry gum tree (or any kind) leaves. We also love arranging coloured Christmas baubles around high candles.
On your kitchen bench, for another look entirely, place green apples in large glass containers and tuck sprigs of pine between the apples. Next to it, fill one with Christmas balls of varying sizes. This will give off a great contrast of colours and textures.
Leave the heat outside
Last year, Queenslanders sweated through a summer scorcher for Christmas Day, with temperatures reaching 46 degrees in some areas. There’s nothing worse than sitting around the house on Christmas day feeling uncomfortable. Our range of outdoor awnings and blinds are ideal to keep the sun at bay and make a huge difference to the comfort of both inside and outdoor living spaces. Enhance art with garland
A touch of garland (Christmas wreath) and pinecones draped across wall art can add to your holiday aesthetic.
Have fun with wreaths
Greenery always makes a room feel more welcoming. For the Christmas season, experiment with a trio of wreaths in different styles and sizes.
